Do booze and creativity go hand in hand? We don’t know if it’s been scientifically proven, but we do know of some pretty bad-ass bibulous artists. Van Gogh, for example, drank absinthe and created Starry Night. OK, so you might think that’s a bad example because he cut off his left lobe and mailed it to a brothel wench. How about Picasso? Also a drinker. His parting words were, “Drink to me, drink to my health, you know I can’t drink any more.” Tonight, it’s time to do more than toast to these masters: let’s aspire to be them at Drink ’N’ Draw. Every other Monday starting tonight from 7 to 10 p.m., 18 Rabbit (18 NW First St., Fort Lauderdale) will provide the beer, the space, and the model — for $12 at the door, $10 in advance. “We’re welcoming people of all skill levels,” says Leah Brown, the gallery director, “from stick-men-only to trained professionals, to come draw from a live model.” Bring with you the tools or drawing materials of your choice — pencils, charcoal, pastel, even clay — and for each session, two models will be present. Release that creative genuis — there will be no formal instruction. E-mail 18rabbitgallery@gmail.com to RSVP. Call 954-990-4315, or visit 18rabbitgallery.com.
