Using C.S. Lewis' acclaimed children's novel The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, which is the first book among The Chronicles of Narnia series, Expressions of Joy dance ministry is hosting its own rendition of this classic story. Here is where you'll meet all the infamous characters of Narnia as the story recounts the journey of four siblings who are evacuated to the English countryside during the air raids of WWII. Upon discovering a magical wardrobe that transports them to the land of Narnia, the children begin their exploration and meet a host of interesting creatures, such as a faun named Mr. Tumnus and a majestic lion named Aslan, who is soon revealed as the true king of Narnia. With their new friends, the children must face the wrath of the evil White Witch, who vows that the land shall always be in winter but never Christmas. Displaying numerous acts of courage, loyalty, and selfless love, this classical ballet production juxtaposes adventure and faith with the meaning of redemption.
As part of Broward Center's Arts Access Program, the ballet will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center for Performing Arts, located at 201 SW Fifth Ave. in Fort Lauderdale.
