A Dozen Squared

12 apostles. 12 Olympic gods. 12 tribes of Israel. The dirty dozen. There’s a pattern here, no?

12 is that mythical number embraced across cultures, and now Las Olas Fine Arts (701 East Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) is getting in on the act by co-opting the fabled digits for its big year-end gallery feature, the first annual “12 x 12 on 12/12” show. Just in time for the 12 days of Christmas, this visual extravaganza will help you deck the halls with paintings that all measure exactly one square foot. The show features roughly 130 paintings from a baker’s dozen of artists (“12 plus one,” says the show’s promoter) working in various contemporary styles across a range of color palettes. The show opens Wednesday, December 12 from 5-8 p.m.. It runs until the paintings sell… or 13 becomes the hipper number. Call 954-767-0063, or visit www.lasolasfinearts.com.
