A Late Night For Early Birds

With a 5:30 p.m. start time, Boca Museum of Art's "Late Night Thursday" may be considered "late night" only by those of us who like to pack in the early-bird special and slip into our PJs as PBS' Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff lull us to slumber by a cool 6:30 p.m. But the "Late Night" label simply refers to the party that takes place after normal business hours of 5 p.m., and since there is free admission, complimentary wine, and a 30 percent discount in the museum store, we'll make an exception for the name and bust on over to the museum for a bit of fun that still allows for plenty of spare hours before bedtime rolls around. From 5:30 to 8 p.m. Late Night attendees can roam the halls of the space solo, à la Larry Daley in Night at the Museum, or take a guided tour through one of the current exhibitions like "Afghan Rugs: The Contemporary Art of Central Asia" or the embroidery works of Elaine Reichek with "The Eye of the Needle." Both of these exhibits come to a close on July 27, so Thursday offers a perfect opportunity to see them before they're gone. Gallery specialists will be on hand to offer insights and background into the collections at 501 Plaza Real, Boca Raton. Call 561-391-6410, or visit bocamuseum.org.
