A Play Date Night

Although it sounds like a soccer mom meetup with their toddlers in a sandbox somewhere in suburbia, Play Date, held at Infujion Lounge this Thursday, couldn't be more on the opposite end of the spectrum. This version of Play Date takes the form of a chic date night -- sophisticated, with a touch of comedy and performance art. Held at the upscale Sunrise tapas and martini bar, this evening is centered on ten monologues and three miniplays, with a stellar standup routine from Annya Bright in between. Bright, known for her physical brand of comedy, has performed on such notable stages as the Comedy Store in L.A. and the Broadway Club in New York, been featured in CW Network made-for-TV movies -- like 2056 Escape From Zombie Land -- and even studied acting and stunt work under Burt Reynolds. She'll be joined by a cast of talented characters who will perform excerpts from famous works penned by the likes of Neil Simon to locally written gems. This adult-style play date starts at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Infujion Lounge, located on 7780 NW 44th St., in Sunrise. Tickets cost $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
