A Riddle Inside a Mystery, Wrapped in an Enigma

Why might actress and multiple Emmy, Oscar, and Golden Globe nominee Glenn Close be appearing today at the Society of the Four Arts (2 Four Arts Plaza, Palm Beach)? According to the folks at the Society, she was asked to come and do a lecture. However, they’re not sure what she might speak about. Close’s people have been tight-lipped, giving only a strange, somewhat ominous title to describe her appearance: “Are You Who We Think You Are?” (Sort of sends chills down your spine, doesn’t it?)

Hmmm. It appears we have a mystery on our hands. We thought Glenn Close was an actress. But she’s not. Perhaps clues to her true identity and motives lie in her motion pictures. In Fatal Attraction she played an obsessive adulterer. In Dangerous Liaisons she is a seductress who uses her lover try to destroy another woman. In Jagged Edge, she finds herself in an affair with a man who may or may not have murdered his wife. Eureka! Glenn Close is not Glenn Close at all! She is actually Amy Fisher!

No, damn it… that’s too obvious. Shoot. Well, she’ll probably speak about her unwavering support for Hillary Clinton in a last ditch effort to try to save the campaign. But maybe (just maybe!) she’s a closet Huckabee enthusiast. Oh, the possibilities. Solve the mystery yourself when Close speaks today at 2:30 p.m. Tickets cost $25, and are available starting 10 minutes prior to showtime. Call 561-655-7227, or visit www.fourarts.org.
