Are you a local hip-hop sensation? Can you juggle flaming bowling pins? Make your hamster disappear? Do you think you can dance? If the answer is yes to any of these questions — or even if you just think the answer is yes — the event organizers at the Box Expo Center in West Palm Beach would love to see you perform. The new convention space, which is still partly under construction, recently launched an all-encompassing Tuesday-night weekly talent showcase in the spirit of America’s Got Talent, dividing each week into its own theme. This week will be a rap and hip-hop night, when the utilitarian space will be transformed into a spacious club complete with a dance floor, pool tables, VIP section, and half-off admission for women. For the performers, who can take the stage at no cost, the series is still in preliminary rounds. Audience reaction will dictate who moves on to the next tier and who exits stage left in a pool of shame and regret. Prizes are yet to be determined. The Box is at 2223 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd. Call 561-301-0600, or visit theboxwpb.com.
Tuesdays, 8 p.m. Starts: July 3. Continues through Jan. 1, 2012
