A Warning: At the Copa, Don’t Fall In Love

You know Barry Manilow is a sex god. Where mortal men would certainly fail, Barry grooves despite the schnoz, the weak chin, and the shaggy hair. He writes the songs, dammit’, and chicks swoon, just wishing they were “Mandy” or another character from Barry’s lovesick oeuvre.

Perhaps the ladies wish they could be Lola, the feather-topped showgirl of “Copacabana” lore. Well, now they can live vicariously through Lola and her dress cut down to “there” when Barry Manilow’s Copacabana, the theatrical adaptation of his steamy tune, comes to NSU’s Miniaci Performing Arts Center (3100 Ray Ferrero Jr. Blvd., Fort Lauderdale) Friday through Sunday. Lola finds herself in a dangerous love triangle with Tony the bartender, and Rico the gangster (of diamond-wearin’ fame). At the Copa, you’ll fall in love... or get shot. Tickets cost $7 to $17. Times vary. Call 954-462-0222, or visit www.miniacipac.com.
