Thursday, local bohemian hangout Brew Urban Café will spike art with coffee and beer and stir it all up with smooth music from a couple of DJs. Dialect, the shops monthly dance party/art exhibition, puts up-and-coming artists across South Florida in the limelight. Theres Jeff Dekal, a street artist and painter who seems to cross the lurid imagery of 1920s New Objectivity with graphic novel themes. In Tobi Salvers pieces, Andy Warhol bleeds into impressionism. The coffee shop will be popping with canvases and photos from plenty of other artists too. DJs Esoteric and Adam Foster will serve up indie, funk, soul, downtempo, and disco beats to dance to. And the shops baristas will hook you up with some of the best coffee, wines, and microbrewed beer in town. You just cant get this at Starbucks. The party is from 8 to 10 p.m. at Brew Urban Café (209 SW Second Ave., Fort Lauderdale). No cover charge. Call 954-523-7191, or visit brewurbancafe.com.
