Anarchists For Broward

Lucky for us, Tom Gabel and crew are totally cool with young, hip Broward County — because, despite being Florida boys themselves, the members of Against Me! sure have no love for Dade County. The song “Miami” speaks its piece shout-along style: “Your gut’s expanding, your hairline’s receding/The sores are opening and the cancer’s spreading… Fucking Miami!” With those lyrics, it’s not hard to see why this Gainesville-bred band refuses to head south along Dixie Highway toward Sin City. So, expect a friendly back-and-forth when the group joins Tim Barry and Ninja Gun this Thursday at the Culture Room (3045 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale). There will be anarcho-punk anthems, modern rock epics, good feelings, and gang vocals. But these dudes are notoriously prickly, so it could become Against Me! against you at any given moment. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and tickets cost $12. Call 954-564-1074, or visit cultureroom.net.
