Art and Heart

With so many art galleries and museums showing off mammoth collections and exclusive exhibits, it's hard to fit all that strolling and viewing into the daytime. That's why the smart art meccas are switching up their basic formula. The new museum trend is to extend evening gallery hours and, in turn, cater to a young professional community that just needs to stop home and change after a day at the office before stepping into the art world. The Boca Museum of Art is about to launch Art in the Park, its new monthly series that will emphasize music, activities, and tours, making it a great option to heavy boozing on a Friday night. Kicking off the new series on Valentine's Day is no mistake. This fresh event is the perfect destination for the couples that like to have one foot in culture and the other in romance. The current featured exhibit is "Pop Culture: Selections From the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation." In addition to your Andy Warhol fix, there will be movie shorts focused on pop artists, a cash bar, and even a live DJ. This is the essential alternative for couples too cool for a romantic dinner but too motivated to celebrate V-Day on the couch. Art in the Park is Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Boca Museum of Art, located at 501 Plaza Real in Boca Raton. Admission is $5. Visit, or call 561-392-2500.
