Art Arousal

Art is often meant to rock the boat, but in the case of Valyn Calhoun, the boat has been tipped over and completely stripped down. Calhoun is a photographer whose images ignite controversy, debate, and awe. Calhoun's "Retrospective" features themes such as homoeroticism, fetishism, fashion, and nightlife frolic, to name a few. ActivistArtistA Gallery is presenting the retrospective from Thursday through September 27, and the grand reception is Saturday, August 24, at 7 p.m. There will be live music, a DJ, live models, food vendors, and more. Calhoun will be there along with model-turned-photographer Rita Baum, who will have her own images of Calhoun on display. The event is free, but the gallery is requesting that those planning to attend RSVP at ActivistArtistA Gallery is located at 422 W. Industrial Ave. in Boynton Beach. Visit, or call 786-521-1199.
