The Glass Gallery in Pembroke Pines is hosting its eighth-annual art competition. It’s an equal-opportunity art event; no matter what your medium is (watercolors, oils, photography, sculpture, mixed media, bicurious media, whichever — there’s no discrimination here!), you can submit your work for a chance to win the monetary prizes. Once a jury has chosen the winners, there will be a reception, and prizes will be given to the winners of each medium, as well as best in show. There’s also a special prize for the art-deco-themed annual Arts & Crafts Festival poster. If you attend as a contestant or as a fan of art, you can enjoy Sage McBride, a child-prodigy violinist, as well as complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres. The Glass Gallery is located in Pembroke Pines City Hall, 10100 Pines Blvd., in Pembroke Pines; the event runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Call 954-435-6520.
Tue., Oct. 16, 7-9 p.m., 2012
