As Christmassy as Spiked Eggnog

The Nutcracker is a holiday ritual as familiar and comforting as the tree lighting at Rockefeller Center, the Andy Williams Christmas Special, eggnog with Grandpa, and Bill O’Reilly’s feigned indignation over what he’d have us believe is a secular war to do away with Christmas. You want a war, O’Reilly? Squeeze your stiff can into a tutu and take on an army of dancing mice. Forget ACLU lawyers hell-bent on making America godless-- try saving Christmas while you’re en pointe, running from a cabal of giant rodents.

Saturday December 1 and Sunday December 2, The Miami City Ballet will resurrect George Balanchine’s much-loved choreography set to Tchaikovsky’s music. There are two performances Saturday (2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) and one on Sunday (2 p.m.) at The Kravis Center (701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach). Tickets range $19.75 to $63. Call 561-832-7469, or visit www.kravis.org.
