Battle of the Big Hair

Friday, stylists representing nearly a dozen of Broward and Palm Beach’s posh hair salons will tousle, spray, twist, tease, and pouf to present what they claim to be the biggest, most unique hairdos around. Just realize they’re doing it for a better reason than getting high off the fumes: 100 percent of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The event’s co-creator, Donna Weinberger, will be judging, along with drag queen Ricky Rollick and bestselling author/journalist/Buddhist-nun Kate Bohner. Weinberger’s girlfriend, Lisa Marie Owens, who also happens to be a stylist and co-creator of the event, will emcee. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the competition begins at 10 p.m. at Luna Lounge (129 Federal Highway, Lake Worth). Party with the motley crew till the tendrils fall for 25 bucks, which includes food and drinks. Call Weinberger at 561-207-8887.
