We may not have snow around here — thank goodness — but we do have lots of water. And, heck, nothing says “holiday season in Florida” quite like a boat pimped out with lights. This Saturday, watch as dozens of watercraft lit to the gills take to the Intracoastal for the 2008 Winterfest Boat Parade. It’s a great excuse to get outdoors, cocktail in hand, and it’s free to watch, unless you wish to secure a $20 grandstand seat at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, at 3109 E. Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Paying tribute to this year’s theme, “Rockin’ the Night Aweigh,” is Grand Marshal Jim Belushi, known not only as an actor but also a member of the Sacred Hearts Band.

The parade begins at the Riverside Hotel at 620 E. Las Olas Blvd. at 6:30 p.m., advancing east into the Intracoastal Waterway before heading north to the ending point, Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. Call 954-767-0686, or visit winterfestparade.com.
