Biff! Bang! Paint!

Take about 50 visual artists, four authors, a vocal ensemble, a theater troupe. Now add another dozen performance artists, as well as a raffle and silent art auction. Put ´em all together inside ArtServe (1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale), and boom! You’ve got ArtExplosion2006, ArtsUnited’s annual assemblage of creative offerings from the local gay and lesbian community. Featuring performances by the South Florida Lambda Chorale, the Public Theatre of South Florida, as well as works by local artists like Robert Felthaus, Richard Poklop, and Pepe Tortosa – not to mention the always eye-catching erotic art exhibit – ArtExplosion is every bit as wild as the name suggests. The event takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at ArtServe’s JM Family Enterprises Gallery. The exhibit is on display now through March 17. Call 954-530-2723, or visit
