As a grown woman with a critical eye on society's (sometimes ridiculous) cultural norms, do you ever wonder who in the ever-living eff started the moratorium on white clothing after Labor Day? And why -- season after season -- you witness store employees banish the verboten whites to the clearance bin until next summer? While no one knows the rule's exact origin, many point to a symbolic end of summer, since white clothing keeps you cool in hotter months but then becomes unnecessary come fall.
But the beauty of living in this state of perpetual summer is that you never really, truly have to adhere to these silly fashion dictates. Still, we're not ones to throw away a good excuse to party, like Saturday's All Girl All White Party at Sopranos Dueling Piano Bar (17 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). This Labor Day weekend festivity for "Girls That Kiss Girls" is presented by Bonnie & Clyde Entertainment Inc. and hosted by Ronnita Day. The night includes go-go dancers from the Office Falls, free drinks, and music by DJ Booda. White attire is encouraged. Doors open at 11 p.m., with a $5 cover. Call 954-533-7973.
