Boozing with Brutus

For some folks, even 30 minutes away from their beloved animals is too much. These kind-hearted people — dog, cat, and even ferret lovers all — just aren’t complete without a wet nose to nuzzle or a soft patch of fur waiting to be tussled by their outstretched hands. So they must take their “children” with them wherever they go. And that’s fine. In fact, there are hosts of joints that understand this unyielding love — and none so much as the Naked Grape Wine Bar (2039 Wilton Dr., Wilton Manors).

Today, they’ll be holding their first ever Yappy Hour, interesting not only because it’s actually two hours long (from 3 p.m. to 5), but because it will allow loving owners who desperately need a glass of vino a chance to indulge their palate alongside their canine charges. For a mere $15 ($10 in advance), Naked Grape will provide a tasting of wines selected with the dog-lover in mind, as well as specialty treats for pets courtesy of Tiny Treasures. And while some dogs have a face only a father could love, NG insists that your dog’s personality should be universally appealing (read: well-behaved animals only). Ten percent of all bottle and glass sales will go towards the Pet Project. There’s a limit of 25, so make a reservation by calling 954-563-5631. Visit
