Christmas Cosplay

Yoda? Pretty cool. Obi-Wan Kenobi? Pretty cool too. Luke Skywalker? Hella cool as well. Mace Windu? What could be cooler than his swinging that purple sa- ber around? Jedi Knights are all cool and whatever, but the best commander of the force has always been and will always be Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith. That’s just our opinion, of course, because we’ve embraced the Dark Side of the Force; we know what’s up. However, George Lucas’ Star Wars films are so richly populated with colorful characters it’s easy to pick a creative one to recreate for Black Fridays’ second annual Star Wars Christmas Party: Sith-Mas. Flex your cosplay skills and creativity with, say, a working costume of a B’omarr Monk, or convince your in-laws to dress up as Yak Face and Snaggletooth; in any case, organizers welcome Sith, Jedi, Empire, and Rebels alike to celebrate Christmas “like they do in a galaxy far, far away” with DJs Lindersmash and Kaos Fernandez. Gogo dancers and some of South Florida’s best burlesque dancers will entertain, though at the time of this writing, there’s no confirmation of a choreographed bonanza involving everybody’s favorite “slave girl” outfit. Black Fridays starts at 10 p.m. Friday at District 15, 15 W. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Don’t be lame and put on a vest and claim you’re Han Solo or go topless and say you’re a Wookie; this is a 21-and-over event, and it is free! Call 954-525-0271, or visit clubdistrict15.com.
