Cinematic Curator

Touting its reputation as a cultural and educational nexus, the Boca Museum of Art is hosting the viewing of two award-winning independent films, The Color of Paradise (Iran, 1999, rated PG) and Mother and Child (U.S., 2009, rated R), through its event "Cinema as an Art Form." Entertaining and thought-provoking, each film demonstrates how artistic elements come together to cultivate such impressions. To help viewers better understand the meaning of each film, moderator Myrna Loman will offer in-depth information about each film's theme and cinema technique. The Color of Paradise captures the experience of a widowed father who is ashamed of his young blind son and hides him from his fiancée. Conversely, Mother and Child focuses on adoption and how three women deal with their current and past circumstances. A two-pronged exhibition, catch Color of Paradise on Thursday and Mother and Child on May 22 at the Boca Museum of Art, located at 501 Plaza Real, Mizner Park in Boca Raton. Both films begin at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. Prices do not include admission to the museum. Tickets can be purchased by visiting bocamuseum.org or at the museum.
