Clarence Cares

Clarence Clemons is a man who has made his mark several times over. From his most notable role as E-Street Band saxophonist to countless other musical endeavors (Twisted Sister!), movies, television, and an autobiography, the South Florida resident known as “the Big Man” is a multimedia entertainer of the world. But for the local nonprofit Home Safe — which helps abused and neglected kids in Palm Beach County — Clemons is the host and namesake of its annual event, this Saturday’s Clarence Clemons Classic gala and auction. The event features live and silent auctions, a high-energy performance by artist Michael Israel, and, of course, some good old-fashioned jammin.’

The classic kicks off at 6 p.m. at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (1 Seminole Way, Hollywood). With a financial goal of half a million smackaroos, tickets cost $300. So wake up early and mow a few extra lawns. Call 561-383-9800, ext. 1239 or visit clarenceclemonsclassic.org.
