Client Number 9

Even 30 years on, the plot of Best Little Whorehouse in Texas seems more plausible than ever: In far away Gilbert, Texas, a brothel called the Chicken Ranch, catering to football players, socialites, policemen, and politicians, comes under fire when a nosey reporter decides to cast a light on the goings on inside, spoiling the fun for everyone. Shoot, just replace Chicken Ranch with Emperor’s Club VIP and fill in the names with some well-known, New York politicos (cough – Spitzer – cough) and this sucker could be repackaged and sold to Hollywood for a cheap turn. Everyone loves wallowing in scandal, after all. (And seriously, what’s wrong with getting a little brain now and again? Oh, it’s illegal? And he was a hypocrite? Shit.) Well, you can still get your wallow on when the new production of Best Little Whorehouse opens Friday at 8 p.m. at the Lake Worth Playhouse (713 Lake Ave., Lake Worth). Tricks…er, tickets will run you $28. Call 561-586-6410, or visit
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: April 11. Continues through May 4, 2008
