The latest downturn in the economy may give jaded Gen-Xers and Gen-X wannabes something to celebrate: the unintended return of grunge. You cant afford anything but second-hand jeans and faded flannels. And youll soon forgo shampoo for food. Why not attribute the new style to a resurgence of 90s anti-establishment rage and relive the grunge era Saturday with Nirvana tribute band
Nevermind?
For 17 years, the members of Nevermind have dedicated their wardrobes, hairstyles, stage props, and onstage antics to capturing the likeness of Nirvana. Consisting of brothers Sam, Alex, and J. Veldman Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Kurt Cobain respectively the trio boasts an 80-song catalog that strives to mimic every musical nuance and raspy Cobain-esque inflection. Nevermind will inevitably rock obvious Nirvana staples such as Come as You Are and Smells Like Teen Spirit, but audiences can expect covers of live classics from Unplugged in New York or even Spank Thru from From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah. So grab some coffee and dont worry about skipping the shower; no one will ever guess its because your waters turned off.
Nevermind will perform for free at 11 p.m. Saturday at Revolution (200 W. Broward Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). For more information call 954-727-0950, or visit jointherevolution.net.
