Crowe Feast

It’s been nearly 20 years since the Black Crowes dropped their debut album Shake Your Money Maker, which, though not exactly groundbreaking, kicked serious ass. Following its release, UK music mag Melody Maker dubbed the boys from Atlanta “The Most Rock ’n’ Roll Rock ’n’ Roll band in the World.” If that sounds like a reach, go blow the dust off the aforementioned album: Tracks like “Hard to Handle,” “Jealous Again,” “Twice As Hard,” and “She Talks To Angels” were instant classics for a reason. During the pre-grunge era still dominated by metal and glam, the Crowes kicked it old-school, with the sort of no-frills, blues-tinged rock that had been largely absent since the demise of Zep. The Crowes remain true to form today, as their last album, Before the Frost…Until the Freeze, can attest. So bake yourself some brownies and bust out your hacky sack, because this one’s gonna be a hippified good time. The show starts at 8 p.m. at the Pompano Beach Amphitheatre, 1801 NE Sixth St. in Pompano Beach. Tickets cost $36. Visit
Tue., Oct. 6, 8 p.m., 2009
