Dead CAN Dance?

Zombies don’t have a lot of special talents. Sure, they do seem to have a good sense of smell (how else could they sniff out all those fresh brains hidden behind locked and boarded basement doors?). The undead are also good at eating people, owing to a knack for cracking open those tricky little skulls without too much hesitation. But other then those traits, they are pretty much worthless. They mumble and stumble aimlessly about hoping by luck to run into survivors. That must be why they work in numbers.

The re-animated stiffs in the musical Zombie Prom are much more talented. These ghouls can sing and dance, which might explain how a dead person could manage to get a prom date in the first place. Although it’s unclear just how a zombie would actually learn to dance, it’s possible they picked up something from watching Michael Jackson’s Thriller. It’s kind of like their version of dance fever.

The living dead will be shaking their rotting appendages at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts this Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. Follow the horde of zombies to 2855 Coral Springs Dr. in Coral Springs. Admission is $18, $5 with student ID two hours prior to showtime. Call 954-344-5990.
Sat., April 11, 2 & 7 p.m., 2009
