Die-Hard Comic-Book Nerds, Don’t Worry; SuperGeeks Rule!

Florida Supercon is much more than a parade of middle-aged men dressed in Spiderman costumes and prosthetic Spock ears. For one freaking thing, two-dozen bands are scheduled for the weekend. (Motion City Soundtrack will headline Friday night.) There is a whole film festival — 50 films — even better, geeky films. The Geek Film Festival will host films that were screened at the likes of Sundance Film Festival as well as zombie and sci-fi films, Q&As with directors, and panel discussions. In addition to the usual comic-book- and cartoon-packed schedule, the fest will feature a foray of guest actors. They will include Richard Horvitz, who voices Nickelodeon’s Invader Zim; and Troy Baker, star of Full Metal Alchemist; along with several dozen more. You can purchase single-, two-, three-, or four-day passes! Tickets start at $15, four-day passes begin at $47.50, and VIP passes cost $150. The show opens at noon Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 11 a.m. Monday at the Miami Airport Convention Center (711 NW 72nd Ave., Miami).Visit floridasupercon.com.
