D.I.Y. at BX Beer

You've been a dedicated fan of the art of brewing for years – if some crafty brewer needed beer removed from a glass ASAP, you could make it happen. Well, here's your shot at the big time, bubba: BX Beer Depot, South Florida's homebrew headquarters, is hosting its first ever Lagerhead Homebrew Beer Fest. There, not only can you sip on delicious suds, handcrafted by the folks from the Lagerhead Homebrewers Club, but you can also learn how to join the ranks of the brew-making elite yourself.

All you need to do is show up at 1 p.m. today with $10 in hand. What you'll get is a handful of tokens you can use to sample from nearly a dozen beers – stuff like Belgian wit (a Blue Moon-like white ale), root beer stout, and Hopinator, a malted-up riff on Sierra Nevada's Celebration IPA. All the beers available were made lovingly by BX and the members of the Homebrew Club, who will be on hand to answer questions about their creations or to discuss how you too can get involved in brewing your own beer (the Lagerheads meet at BX on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.). If you think all this sounds awfully giving, well, it is: the Lagerheads’ goal is to "promote the appreciation of beer through socialization and education." They're people after your own heart.

Find BX Beer Depot at 2964 Second Ave. N. in Lake Worth, or on the web at bxbeerdepot.com. For additional info, dial 561-965-9494.
