Down With Comic-Con and Up With Tate's

It's con season, and with that come events like Florida's Supercon as well as the Almighty of cons, San Diego's Comic-Con. But if you can't afford a ticket across the country, don't fret; there is an alternative that is equally as nerdy as it is convenient. Everyone's favorite comic book store, Tate's Comics, is hosting a Tate's Not at Comic-Con 2012 from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday to fill the void left by not going to see the largest comic-book convention in the world. In addition to the sympathetic commiserations of your fellow nerds, geeks, gamers, and cos players, Tate's is promising things like free stuff and more free stuff. Also on the list is Tate's First Ever Cosplayrade, which is a giant parade of all those in costume, a costume contest (registration between noon and 1 p.m. but even those not registered are welcome to join the parade), discounts and prizes, and more things yet to be announced. Tate's is located at 4566 N. University Drive in Lauderhill. Admission is free. Call 954-748-0181, or visit
