Ethel Waters Lands in Delray Beach

The Delray Beach Playhouse is presenting Ethel Waters: His Eye Is on the Sparrow. This play documents the life of Broadway gem Ethel Waters. She was born into extreme poverty, her mother a victim of rape, yet she was able to accomplish things most people only dream about. It wasn't easy. "I used to work from 9 until unconscious," she said of her vaudeville days. And her story makes for a great play with music (which means if you like your musicals only slightly musical, then this is for you). The Delray Beach Playhouse is home to a warm group of talented thespians, led by gifted director Randall "Randy" Del Lago. It's located at 950 Lake Shore Drive in Delray Beach, and the production runs from Friday through February 10, with shows on Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. Visit, or call 561-272-1281.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Jan. 25. Continues through Feb. 10, 2013
