Feeling the Friendly Confines

The Miami Heat returns to the American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) after a West Coast road trip where they endured a crushing Kobe Bryant buzzer beater, a blowout in Denver, and Dwyane Wade dropping 34 on the Kings. Their coming home stand promises to be chock-full o’ subplots as well!

On Thursday, the Heat takes on the Orlando Magic. Ah, Vince Carter. The Salieri to Dwyane Wade’s Mozart. Wade and Vinsanity always seem to bring the best out of each other, but thankfully, Wade always ends up on the winning end. No matter how big a shot Carter makes against the Heat, D-Wade always finds a way to outdo him. Tip-off is 7:30.

The Portland Trailblazers just lost the oldest 21-year-old in the world, center Greg Oden, for the season with a knee injury. That’s the good news. Not so much good news: Heat-killer Brandon Roy is still alive and well. Sunday’s game begins at 6 p.m.

Then on Wednesday, the Utah Jazz comes to town. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. The Jazz has long had two of Pat Riley’s most coveted players in Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams. Boozer will be a free agent next year, which means all Riles has to do is put together a trade package to bring Williams over. Screw it; let’s just throw all our money at LeBron and call it a night.
