Time Out!

TUE 12/2

But this time, it's not the kind you get for drawing on the walls. "Time Out for Us" is an event for children age 6 and younger and their parents. While the kiddies get to play and color, the parents (or other interested adults) get to learn about Native American culture, Seminole and Tequesta Indians, native Florida plants, and coral reefs. It's a win-win situation. Time Out for Us starts at 10 a.m. at the Oakridge Auditorium at Tree Tops Park, 3900 SW 100th Ave., Davie. Cost is $2 for adults and free for kids. Call 954-370-3750. -- Audra Schroeder

Hit the Lights

The Fat Man in Red hits Tamarac to ring in the holiday season

MON 12/1

In his first appearance at a local holiday lighting celebration, Santa Claus hits the Tamarac Community Center (86012 W. Commercial Blvd., Tamarac) at 6 p.m. Monday. After 11 months of unemployment and a heating bill that must be staggering, Claus' plans for this Christmas have swung into action.. Once the town's menorah and Christmas tree are lighted, participants can stroll through a holiday bazaar filled with holiday-themed arts and crafts. Of course, for the kids, Claus is the main attraction. When reached for comment, Claus informed us he doesn't grant interviews to "the naughty people." Admission is free. Call 954-724-2445. -- Dan Sweeney
