The lacquered-yet-beaten bar top and the weathered bartenders who make you reminisce about the long-lost years of family dinners and Uncle Joe’s drunken antics — well, there’s something about a dive bar that’s just so... well, homey.

The Village Well Pub (1023 SE 17th St. Causeway, Fort Lauderdale) caters to that nostalgia. On on any given night, it also has sports playing on some big screens. For all this, the nautical-themed décor brings in a diverse crowd — from the neighborhood drunks to the sports fanatics (Sun Life Stadium being just too far of a drunken drive). Watch the Marlins versus the Los Angeles Dodgers game at the Well. Happy hour is from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily; the game starts at 7:10 p.m., so if you’re into watching juiced-up major leaguers strut in their tight pants, then get to the Well early for cheap drinks.
