Fishing for Homers in a Hurricane

Each and every South Florida sports fanatic’s got his own pro versus college fantasy. For example, who wouldn’t want to see a winner-takes-all brawl pitting the 1972 Dolphins against the 1987 ’Canes in the old Orange Bowl? Yeah, that would be awesome. But given certain deficiencies in current time-travel technology, we’re gonna have to settle for something slightly less epic, like an afternoon ball game between the Florida Marlins and the University of Miami Hurricanes. Be there Wednesday when fish meet frat boys at Roger Dean Stadium (4751 Main St., Jupiter). Marlins star Hanley Ramirez will attempt to slug a slam off one of UM’s heater hurlers. You will cheer. And all the while, Dave will slave away on his one-man wormhole bus. The game starts at 3:05 p.m., and tickets cost $8 to $35. Call 800-745-3000, or visit
