Folk a Pose

Expect a lot of Zen and harmony at local hair-salon-cum-coffeehouse the Beat Cup's Folk Fest. The highlight of this event is attendees partaking in yoga alfresco while listening to live acoustic tunes. What could be more tranquil than sitting outside on an October day and bending into a one-legged king pigeon pose as harmonious melodies from local musicians like Fern E. and Megan W. linger in the background? The alluring, honeyed verses of Rachel Andes will add even more mellifluous accord to this afternoon of deep serenity. In addition to yoga amid folk tunes, the folks at the Beat Cup will also have food and drinks. Works by stellar local artists will be available for purchase. Don't forget to bring good vibes and yoga mats to boot. Namaste. The guitars begin strumming at noon Saturday at Folk Fest at the Beat Cup, located on 660 Linton Blvd., Suite 100, in Delray Beach. Free to attend. Call 561-266-2611, or visit thebeatcupcafe.com.
