Forget Spring Break: Spring Block Party!

The Classic Spring Block Party at Seminole Casino covers the interests of a large pool of South Florida citizens: The weekend features a battle of the disc jockeys, a battle of the bands, a cougar contest, and a beefcake contest. As with every battle worth fighting, the victor should get a decent-size sack of money, and the Casino holds up to this: There will be $1,500 for the disc jockey, cougar, and beefcake in first place, and besides cash, the band who wins gets a deal to play at the Casino. The Battle of DJs contest will take place from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday at the Stage Bar.

Cougars and Beefcakes, be ready to strut — there’s swimsuit and clubwear categories! — from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Outside Stage. DJs and bands were pre-screened, but beefcake and cougar registration is open from 3 to 5 p.m. Also, throughout the weekend, there will be Cosmic Bingo, a Thunderbird giveaway, and bike show. Several vendors will be set up to sell food, and from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, the Casino will offer complimentary food and margaritas (this free booze coincidentally coincides with the cougar and beefcake contests!).
