Four Funnies for Friday

Yeah, at first we thought the name of this comedy troupe sounded more like a religious sect too, but then Wikipedia informed us that Jove is another name for Jupiter, the city from which the Jove Comedy Experience hails. Composed of four actors and comedians, the group prepares prewritten sketches, takes audience suggestions, creates scenes on the spot, and closes every show with an original comedic song. It recently won awards at the 2009 ADDYs for a series of commercials, plus the founders have done gigs with Blue Man Group and Boston’s Improv Asylum. Yet, if you aren’t quite sure these strangers can make you laugh so hard that you’ll snort wine out of your nostrils — therefore justifying the ticket price of $15 — visit theJove.net to view some clips beforehand. Or just take a chance and play along with the Jove at Mos’Art Theater, 700 Park Ave. in Lake Park. The show starts at 8 p.m. Call 561-337-6763, or visit mosarttheater.com.
