In this tight economic time, there’s pressure to DIY, but after gathering your needles, thread, hammers, clasps, paint, and everything else crafty, you might find the result isn’t worth the effort. Although it’s certainly admirable to take on these projects, it’s just as admirable to realize you are significantly less motivated to create your own jewelry than you are to buy someone else’s, especially if there is a yummy food truck involved. Don’t think of it as being lazy; think of it as contributing to local artists who need the funds to create more beautiful accessories, decorations, clothes, etc. You are supporting small business and therefore saving our economy and making ’Merica number one and basically saving the world. You’re not a consumer; you’re a damned hero.
You’ll have a chance to do all those wonderful things Saturday at the City-Wide Market, an indoor vintage/flea market. Scour the stands for unique products that perfectly match your style, whether they are handmade, gently used, collectibles, novelties, or retro. There will be food trucks on the premises, so your shopping excursion need not be interrupted by the bothersome need for food.
The City-Wide Market takes place at the Pompano Beach Civic Center, which is located at 1801 NE Sixth St. in Pompano Beach. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission and parking are free. Visit citywidemarket.com.
