Get Naked for the Truth

PETA has often been known to incorporate nudity into its advertising. There have been tons of titillating celebrities who've bared it all for PETA photos. And if there's one thing meat eaters and non-meat eaters can agree on, it's that we all like a hot, naked celebrity. The kind of nudity being brought to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts involves less boobs (sad face) but more information. PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk is going to be speaking on the "naked truth" about the animal rights movement. The PETA president is actually on a national tour to help people understand PETA's perspective on animals being treated fairly. Newkirk herself is a lively public speaker, and her antics have extended from the stage to a myriad of activities that prove she puts her money where her mouth is. She has done things like pull a horse carriage through the streets of Mumbai and was locked up in a Pennsylvania prison briefly for disrupting a pigeon shoot. These actions may seem extreme to some, but to have that kind of conviction and passion about your beliefs is rare, and to act on that is even more unusual. The speech, which will include a Q&A session afterward, will take place in the Abdo New River Room of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, located at 201 SW Fifth Ave. in Fort Lauderdale at 7 p.m. on Friday.
