At Shock of the Real: Photorealism Revisited, the latest addition to the Boca Raton Museum of Arts collections, youll stare, awestruck, at art imitating life. Taken from photographs, the images are recreated onto canvas in obsessively accurate detail, blurring the line between what is, and what isnt real. If youve got a penchant for all things pastry, spend some time salivating over Audrey Flacks 1974 acrylic on canvas, Strawberry Tart Supreme. Count the floors of the auto mall reflecting on the Chryslers hood in Richard Estes 1969 oil painting NYC Parking Lot. But most of all, wonder who has both the talent and dedication to render a mirrored version of another medium. Its bizarre, beautiful, and real.
