While the Miss Manners, Martha Stewarts, and other doyens of holiday etiquette might pop a blood vessel throwing side-eye at those who put up a Christmas tree before the Thanksgiving plates have been cleared and hit the dishwasher, things operate a little differently in South Florida. It’s not our fault; with no internal clock alerting us to a wintry season, we’re liable to start requesting pumpkin spice lattes in August. But tonight at ArtsPark in Young Circle (1 N. Young Circle, Hollywood), there will be Christmas carolers and manufactured snow flurries during the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony one week out from Thanksgiving. Bring a beach chair and blanket and settle in for a special holiday concert by the United States Air Force’s Airmen of Note — the premier jazz ensemble of the USAF, stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C. Inspired by Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Corps dance band, the ensemble that was created in 1950 continues today with 18 active-duty airmen musicians. The free holiday festivities begin at 7 p.m. and continue until 9. Call 954-921-3500, or visit hollywoodfl.org.
