From R&B to deep funk to Latin and drum 'n' bass, not one rhythm is left untouched -- or unthumped, for that matter -- when Andrew Atkinson performs. This megatalented 32-year-old Jamaican native and Miami resident is a multifaceted drummer who is not afraid to explore the far-reaching realms of rhythm. His versatility on the skins has not gone unnoticed: Atkinson is slowly making a name for himself in the national jazz scene. The best news for Delray Beach rhythm junkies is that Atkins is set to perform with his equally accomplished quartet at the Arts Garage before jetting off to New York City. Joining Atkinson onstage as the Andrew Atkinson Quartet is a cast of equally accomplished musicians from around the globe. This gig is a rare treat that affords jazz aficionados the opportunity to catch a rising star in the most intimate of settings. This cornucopia of rhythms takes place Friday at 8 p.m. at the Arts Garage, located at 180 NE First St. in Delray Beach. Tickets start at $25. Call 561-450-6357, or visit artsgarage.org.
