Starting in Greece in 776 B.C., the Olympics have a historic tradition of pitting the best athletes against one another in a quest for the best of the best. From running to wrestling to javelin and discus, the competition still shows off each nation’s toughest and strongest. You may not be a professional — or even fit — but you can still show off your brawniness with the upcoming Bar Olympics. Every Tuesday in August from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Dirty Blondes and Wild Turkey American Honey are hosting a drinking man’s — or woman’s — kind of Olympics with Herculean games like Pop-a-Shot Basketball, boxing, darts, two-minute-drill football, and skeet ball for teams of two. The top three teams in each game walk away with bar tabs ranging from $25 to $100. The cost to compete is $5 per person, which includes a drink. Online registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Dirty Blondes is located at 229 S. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-357-9981, or visit facebook.com/DirtyBlondesFL.
Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Starts: Aug. 6. Continues through Aug. 27, 2013
