Hardcore Karaoke

If you happen to be a 20-something punk whose experience of ’80s hardcore is wholly derived from digitized back issues of Slash and a bootleg DVD of Penelope Spheeris’ seminal doc The Decline of Western Civilization, then this Friday’s Pogo! party at Churchill’s Pub (5501 NE Second Ave., Miami) is probably the closest you’ll ever come to making mosh love to Henry Rollins, Ian MacKaye, Glenn Danzig, and the rest.

Kicking off at 8 p.m., local crews Unit Six, Hardware Youth, Routine Scheme, Knock ’Em Dead, and Trust No One will cover their favorite 60-second songs by punk legends like Black Flag, Minor Threat, Agnostic Front, the Misfits, and DOA. Plus, if you’re tough enough, you could even take your amateur ass on stage for a karaoke take on the Circle Jerks’ “Group Sex.” Now, go get ready. It’s almost time for some simulated hardcore. Admission costs $5. Call 305-757-1807, or visit churchillspub.com.
Fri., April 30, 8 p.m., 2010
