Its strange to see what the promise of free food can do. Tasty grub on someone elses dime can turn a happy hour spread into a feast of Thanksgiving-proportions, and it can make even the stiffest company wallflower show up ready to throw down at the holiday party (with Tupperware in-hand). For Bill The Sauce Boss Wharton, the promise of free food for others has transferred into a career of cooking up slide guitar blues and spicy gumbo for the masses. To date, 140,000 full bellies have left a Wharton show. One famous parrot-head fan was even moved to write a song about it with the Wharton salute, I Will Play for Gumbo. At a Wharton show, everybody eats some of the masters concoction. Witness the gumbo god live at Bamboo Room (25 South J St., Lake Worth). Showtime is 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15.
