Home is Where Your Art Is

If your definition of home is: (1) where you stash your big stuff while you’re gallivanting about the country, and (2) is where a loving family waits for your return, go ahead and call Miami home for Steph Taylor. But truth is the piano-toting indie songstress is as much at home on the road as she is anywhere else. Growing up in North Miami, Taylor started tinkling on the ivories at age 16 -- even honing her skills at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Sounding like the quirky, poetic kid sister of Ben Folds with a hankering for early Fiona Apple and Tori Amos, Taylor now plays sold-out shows between here and New England.

While a national tour kicks off in March for her third independent release, you can catch her locally before she leaves. She’ll hit up New Moon bar (2400 Wilton Drive, Wilton Manors) at 7:30 p.m., Sunday. Call 954-563-7660, or visit www.newmoonbar.com.
