It’s your choice. You could either elbow your way through the crowds at Sawgrass to get your loved ones T-shirts from Old Navy, or you could come to the Indie Craft Bazaar at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE 6th St., Fort Lauderdale), a historic movie house, and pick up one-of-a-kind pieces handmade with love and care. And if the word “craft” evokes images of pastel tea cozies and misshapen socks, come bear witness to the current generation of homemade trinkets: In the past, there has been pillows shaped like boobs, pill box hats a la Mad Men, and silkscreened graphic tees — these ain’t your country kitchen mama’s crafts. This time around since it's "peace and love"-themed, expect henna tattoos and a free DIY T-shirt tie-dye stand.

So stop padding the pockets of the CEOs of chain stores. Send your cash flow right back into the community by supporting South Florida artists and crafters at the bazaar, this Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $3 and the first 100 through the door get a fab swag bag. Visit getupandcraft.com.
