Department stores at the mall don’t speak to your personal brand of flair. Gifts created en masse are anything but thoughtful. And the crowd champing for the clearance rack at various Sawgrass outlets seems to evoke sad comparisons to a cattle drive. Sure, you’re on a budget, but does your BFF really want another T-shirt from Old Navy? To help you avoid looking like a thoughtless cow this holiday season, Fort Lauderdale’s one-stop hub for all things rockabilly, the Monterey Club, will turn into a veritable marketplace of Americana charm Sunday when local crafty types gather to sell vintage goodies, clothing, art, baked goods, and more at the Kitty Klaus Market. Daddy-O’s, this may be the place to grab that trusty pocket comb or bowling shirt. Vampy vixens, there will surely be some homemade trinkets, jewelry, and accessories with enough sass to match your strut. For the rest of us, we could probably spice up our holiday shopping with one-of-a-kind pieces. The only thing we lose is an uninspired trip to the Gap. Kitty Klaus Market takes place Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at Monterey Club (2608 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale). Call 954-598-1887, or visit themontereyclub.net.
