Howells Else

... would you celebrate Halloween?

SAT 10/30

Could there be any more reasons to love Danny Howells? The man isn't afraid to wear midnight-blue eyeshadow. His no-bullshit website includes just a short bio, booking information, and a forum where he personally answers questions. And despite being one of the world's most popular DJs, he opted to keep his nice British name instead of adopting some lame tag like "Hypo" or "Orgazmotron." Howells is known for versatile sets, a devilish smile, and his unending devotion to the electronic cause. The so-called "clubbers' DJ" sent thousands of house-happy kids laughing across the dance floor when he mixed a track of Slim Shady saying "Nobody listens to techno." No offense, Em -- you just didn't know where the party was, since you were so busy cruising the mainstream. Howells has spun on every continent that doesn't involve penguins or polar bears -- as has his friend, the hottie from Chilladelphia, Josh Wink. After eight local DJs spin, Howells and Wink take over the decks at Club Space (34 NE 11th St., Miami) for the "HowellWink" party that starts tonight and will, for sure, end well after the sun comes up. Are you there? Call 305-375-0001, or visit www.clubspace.com. -- Deirdra Funcheon

Going Six Feet Under

Two nights of ghoulish fun

SAT 10/30

With the lavish parties, the incredible music, and all the outlandish costumes, Halloween is one of those holidays in which your main objective is to have a great time and do a few things you wouldn't normally do the rest of the year. The Coliseum nightclub (2520 S. Miami Rd., Fort Lauderdale) gears up for not one but two nights of Halloween celebration. It all begins Saturday night with Satan's Ball featuring DJ Roland Belmares and the Horny Devil Dancers. Sunday night, the club hosts its annual Halloween party, which is themed "Six Feet Under." DJ Angelo Kortez spins, and the evening features numerous performances and a costume contest with $2,000 in cash and prizes going to those who are dressed to kill. VIP table service is available. Both parties begin at 9 p.m., and admission costs $10 to $12. Call 954-832-0100, or visit www.coliseumnightclub.com. -- Jeremy Jones

Yacht-Zee

A boat show for showboats

THU 10/28

We're all familiar with the guy who buys a huge boat to, you know, compensate for other areas. Truth is, who the hell with money to burn wouldn't want a 100-foot superyacht? Even if you can't afford such luxuries, you can still enjoy a day of awestruck reverie at the 45th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which features more than $1.6 million in boats, yachts, and miscellaneous nautical bling. The show runs Thursday through Sunday at six locations: Radisson Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Broward County Convention Center, Marriott Portside Marina, Hyatt Pier 66 Hotel and Marina, Hall of Fame Marina, and Las Olas Marina. Admission costs $5 to $16. Call 954-764-7642. -- Jason Budjinski

Bumpin' Pumpkins

SUN 10/31

There's only one stipulation for Sunday night's Halloween Costume Ball at Memory Lane Cafe (4220 N. State Rd. 7, Lauderdale Lakes), and that's anything goes. But keep in mind that, with DJ Bambino in charge, you'd better wear something you can dance in. Contest winners get some of that cold green stuff (not the kind you smoke). The night starts at 9. Call 954-739-5112. -- Jason Budjinski
