Huladay Party at the Mai-Kai

Christmastime in Florida is never snowy. Instead of hot toddies and sled rides, we opt for tropical drinks in coconuts and paddleboarding. Santa swaps out his fleece red pants for a pair of floral-print board shorts. And you can forget about decorating an evergreen Douglas fir; the tinsel and ornaments dangle from palm trees. But just because we celebrate a little differently down here in the South doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy a whole lot of festive partying. Back for another holiday season is the debaucherous Exotica-a-Go-Go gang to serve a unique and oh-so-very-merry Huladay Party at the Mai-Kai. There will be Hawaiian shirts. There will be dancing. And most important, there will be more booze than you can handle. Ear candy will be provided by DJs James Brown’s Sweat, Mikey R., and Sensitive Side, and a special, late-night, half-price happy hour takes place from 10 p.m. to midnight. As usual, there is no cover charge, but early arrival is suggested. Folks, leave the ugly Christmas sweater at home and grab a lei instead. The Huladay Party kicks off at 9 p.m. at the Molokai bar inside the Mai-Kai Restaurant (3599 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale). Visit, or call 954-563-3272.
